Abductor's End Game
Since you now have all six of the rainbow-colored emblems, it's time to put them to use. You can do so by heading to Blue Hole. Make sure that your oxygen supply is plentiful. Refill it first at the lodge if necessary. When you arrive at the hole, dive into the water and head toward the right.
As you swim, you'll find yourself coming upon areas with symbols etched above spaces along which you can proceed. In your possession, you have clues about which route to follow through each intersection. The route you should take is as follows: lower right, continue to the lower right, take the lower right branch at the next intersection, continue through two more straight stretches that lead gradually upward, follow the path to the upper right, then take the upper right one again. You're now in a three-way room. If you're low on air, follow the passage to the upper left for a refill. Otherwise, proceed directly to the right four screens to reach a puzzle room that you will view from Nancy's perspective.
Go left if you need more air for your tank or right if you don't. | Your placement of the emblems should appear as shown above. |
At this point, you need to keep in mind the rules of conduct that you found on Dove Isle. They are the clues that you can use to solve the puzzle.
First rule: "Be earnest in survival. It is necessary for every man to abandon keys to his solitude and live as one."
Second rule: "Whether they are of lofty or lowly rank, no occupant here shall lord over those who came later to the shore."
Hidden in those sentences are animal names that correspond to the images etched into the six rainbow-colored emblems that you've collected. You must now place the emblems in the spaces provided and in the order provided. Fortunately, selecting to use one of the emblems will take you to a screen where each of the pieces are placed. They're not in the proper order, but you can simply click on the symbols to rearrange them. From left to right on the top row, those symbols should be in the following order: bee, ant and donkey. The bottom row should be: owl, panther and camel. When you've positioned them properly, you won't be allowed to move them again but now you can click on them to rotate. It's hard to know just what to do here, but the colors should match as follows: bee and ant should be connected by red, bee and owl should be matched by yellow, owl and panther by green, panther and camel should be joined by turquoise and the camel and donkey should be joined by purple.
You need to arrange the hourglasses now. | Finally, a real treasure chest is in sight! |
Once you've rotated everything properly, the door will immediately rise and you can swim into a chamber where you don't have to worry about exhausting your oxygen supply. That's good, since you now have another puzzle to solve. This one is centered around hourglass objects. They're lined up on shelves and you have to click them in a certain order so that sand starts flowing and finishes draining from each of them at the same time. The exact order is hinted at in El Toro's journal. If you flip through it now, you'll notice that certain letters are given bold text. These correspond to the first letter of each of the seven ships, which themselves are named on the hourglass objects that you're now viewing in the cave.
Start by clicking on the general area of the glasses, which will let you grab a key. Then you can set about solving the puzzle. To do so, you need to spin the hourglass objects in the following order: Humilidad, Generosidad, Castidad, Paciencia, Templanza, Caridad and Diligencia. However, things aren't entirely that simple. For each of the hourglasses, you should let the sand drain by a certain amount before moving onto the next one. Detailed timing tips aren't helpful since they will just ruin your concentration if you try to consider them too much, but a general guideline is that you should let the sand from the first five drain for around three seconds after clicking on each one before moving onto the next. Then click the last two hourglasses within a second or so of one another. The process will almost certainly take you several attempts, but the game does give you a bit of leeway. If you see one hourglass running much longer than the others, then you know that you didn't delay long enough between it and the one that was clicked previously.
