In the heart of Palmyra, a suburb east of Fremantle, a remarkable story of renovation and resilience unfolded. Jordan Bruno and Dane Yull, an unlikely duo of content creator and geologist, embarked on a journey that would transform a century-old derelict house into a dream home worth $1.59 million.
The Unaware Beginning
When Bruno and Yull purchased the house in 2023, they were, in their own words, "blissfully unaware" of the challenges that lay ahead. Little did they know, this uninhabitable space with its high ceilings and hardwood floors would become a testament to their determination and creativity.
"It was a mess," Bruno recalls. "No working bathroom, rats, water damage, and a surprise visit from termites. Oh, and let's not forget the dodgy wiring that could've caused a fire!"
A Three-Year Slog
The initial six months were a test of their resolve. Showering outdoors and cooking on a Bunsen burner, they gutted the house and began the slow process of renovation. Yull, the practical one, took woodworking lessons, while Bruno, the visionary, dreamed up dramatic designs. Their journey was documented on social media, attracting a dedicated following.
"Renovating together was a real test of our relationship," Bruno admits. "But it also brought us closer. We became a better team, learning new skills and tapping into local expertise."
The 'Moody Maximalist' Vision
As the house took shape, Bruno's vision came to life. Dark greens, deep reds, and collected pieces created a unique, almost theatrical atmosphere. "We wanted rooms with personality, rooms that felt alive," he explains. "A space where you might uncover a secret or two."
Their budget was tight, but they got creative. Thrift stores and Facebook Marketplace became their playgrounds, with a $4000 kitchen being one of their biggest finds. Social media sponsorship also helped ease the financial burden, offering discounts and collaboration opportunities.

With the renovation complete in April 2026, the house at 5 Cleopatra Street is now on the market. Bruno and Yull, with their growing Instagram following and a love for renovating, are planning their next project in a different city. However, as Bruno hints, their next adventure is contingent on the sale of this house, making it a crucial chapter in their story.
"This house has been our labor of love, and we're excited to see what the future holds," Bruno concludes. "It's been a wild ride, and we can't wait to share our next chapter with our followers."
